Surrounded by beautiful rice (paddy) fields and peacocks strolling around, the whole property is tranquil, restful, with a beautifully appointed and well kept garden that lives in harmony with its surrounds. Run by a wonderful family, who did so much to ensure we were happy, satisfied, and organised transport as well as safari for us. in spite of tricky logistics due to being holiday period. It accomodates Sri Lankan as well as international visitors, which is wonderful as I am Sri Lankan living abroad, and it was great to have good conversations with other Sri Lankans. The food was amazing! We had dinners there for 3 nights and we were never disappointed. The service was excellent, the people as kind as you could possibly be, and the food was exceptional Sri Lankan meals. We did 2 full day safaris at Wilpattu and the lodge packed a big breakfast for us and a Sri Lankan lunch for us both days. Wilpattu ended up being our favorite national park to visit out of the 4 we went to, and the location of Wilpattu Wildhideaway was perfect.
